The Tool Sprawl Trap

Each tool generates data. None of them talk to each other. And between all of them, there's a human doing the connective tissue work.

This is the operational quicksand. The more you grow, the more tools you add, the more humans you need to make them work together.


The Human Tax

Here's what a typical day looks like for an ops lead at a €5–15M brand:

  • 7:30 AM — Check overnight orders, flag any issues
  • 8:00 AM — Open the 3PL dashboard, check fulfillment status, reply to warehouse emails
  • 8:30 AM — Log into CS platform, scan new tickets, escalate anything urgent
  • 9:00 AM — Inventory check across retail locations (usually involves 2–3 different systems)
  • 9:30 AM — Pull yesterday's sales data into a spreadsheet for the weekly meeting
  • 10:00 AM — Weekly team meeting (present data you manually compiled)
  • 11:00 AM — Handle wholesale order queries (check stock, check pricing, reply)
  • 12:00 PM — Chase supplier on delayed shipment (check PO, check tracking, send email)
  • 1:00 PM — Lunch (if you're lucky)
  • 2:00 PM — Review marketing campaign performance, flag insights to marketing team
  • 3:00 PM — Process returns, reconcile with 3PL
  • 4:00 PM — Update cash flow forecast for CFO
  • 5:00 PM — Clear remaining CS tickets
  • 6:00 PM — "Leave" — actually, check phone for fires until 11 PM

Notice something? At least 60% of this work is copying data between systems and making decisions that could be automated. This person isn't doing strategic work. They're being a very expensive API.


The Hiring Spiral

The standard response to operational pain is hiring. The math seems simple:

  • Hire an ops coordinator: €30–40K
  • Hire a CS lead: €28–35K
  • Hire a data analyst: €35–50K
  • Total: €93–125K annually

The power of AI isn't in any single automation. It's in the connections between them.

When a customer asks "will this be back in stock?" — the ideal response requires data from your inventory system, your supply chain timeline, your product roadmap, and your CS platform. No single tool has all of that.

When wholesale reorders slow down — the ideal response connects that signal to DTC sell-through data, marketing spend, and seasonal patterns. No dashboard shows you that.

This is the gap we fill.
